So “Why do you weep?” the goddesses asked.
“You cannot imagine what happiness Narcissus was giving me. Every day I was waiting for his arrival. It was he and he alone that was making my every day special. There were days that he didn’t come to me, these days I was so sad, I was worrying that maybe something had happened to him. At night I could not rest. I was thinking about him. I was waiting for the sun to rise so I could see him again. And when he returned I was feeling such a joy to see him standing there looking at me. I think I was in Love with him. ” the lake replied.
“Ah, now I understand why you was in love with him, after all he was so beautiful?” the goddesses said in wonder
The lake was silent for some time. Finally, it said:
“Yes, I was in love with him, but not because he was beautiful, I never noticed that. I loved him because he was making my days special, he was giving me his attention, he was making me unique. I miss his eyes so much, I miss the nights I was feeling anxious and the happiness of the next day when I was seeing him again. I lost my companion, my only friend, my Narcissus.
“What a lovely story,” the alchemist thought.
Also Liina.L thought :
The wisdom of nature: When something disappears (Narcissus as a human), something else reappears (narcissus as a flower). No empty spots. Nature knows how to compensate.
These two are interpretations and Imaginations of the respective readers of this original story Narcissus and the lake by Paulo Coelho .
