Peter Miller of ITO World Ltd was asked to give a key note talk at the 2010 Citiesrevealed.com conference in Cambridge. He spoke about '10 years of open data' looking back first to the origins of copyright and monopoly legislation and the development of 'share alike' licensing in recent year. He discussed the 'crowd-sourcing' of the first Oxford English Dictionary, the creation of the first A-Z map of London in the 1930s and more recently the growth of OpenStreetMap. He talked about the history of roads and how this is being made easily accessible using using Wikipedia. He also talked about the reasons for the recent calls for open data.
